| The Cost
of Doing Business Index (developed by
Economy.com)
is a relative measure of the overall
cost of doing business in a state. The
index compares business costs for each
state based upon unit labor costs, effective
state and local tax burdens, and energy
costs. These costs are compared to national
averages and weighted to prepare an
overall index. Labor costs account for
75% of the index, with energy (15%)
and taxes (10%) accounting for the rest. |
