Kansas is a right-to-work
state, a fact guaranteed by a 1958 constitutional
amendment. Kansas workers have the choice
to join a labor union, and union membership
cannot be a condition of employment. The right-to-work
status can only be changed by a vote of the
people.
In Reno County, unionization is even lower
than the already minor Kansas percentage.
Only 5% of the workforce is organized in Reno
County, compared to 9% statewide.
