Each
quarter, the Hutchinson/Reno County Chamber
of Commerce participates in the ACCRA Cost
of Living Index Survey. The survey provides
a useful and accurate relative measure of
price levels for consumer goods and services
in participating areas, both metropolitan
and non-metropolitan.
The average for all participating areas equals
100 and each index is read as a percentage
of the average. For example, Anywhere, USA
has an index of 98.3. This means that the
cost of living in Anywhere is 98.3 percent
of the national average. The index is widely
used by corporations and individuals to compare
the relative cost of living between different
areas of the country.
